Encouragement Edge
The Encouragement Edge Program is more than just a training — it’s a way of life. It’s made to help individuals, parents, leaders, and teams build practical skills for bringing encouragement into daily life
The 7 Disciplines
-
We aren’t focused on what people are doing right or wrong, but on why they do what they do. We encourage and hold others accountable for who they are as a son, daughter, coach, father, friend, leader, etc.
-
We seek the good in others. In our day-to-day family life or activities of a team, we are always finding ways to catch people doing something right. We encourage others when they show follow through, when they show leadership and when they are part of the team.
-
In any organization or environment, we need to understand that following IS leading. When we are winning with others, we are leading. It's a win when you are a follower, and it's a win when you are a leader. It's all about helping those around us to win whether we are leading or following.
-
We work hard to be the best version of ourselves. We do our very best to inspire others through our example of hard work and expecting the best of ourselves and those around us.
-
In servant leadership, we need to care about every little thing. The small stuff that others might not see as important are the things that we focus on being intentional about. Things like being on time, making sure we clean up after ourselves, turning off lights, etc. The small stuff matters!
-
We train coaches to realize that every day we should be having so much fun that we are laughing. Our emotions are moved to tears because we believe so much in our team. We should finish our tasks or go to sleep every day knowing that we did our very best to encourage people.
-
No matter what your belief system is, no matter what someone does (good or bad) they will always know that they are loved no matter what.
-
Leaving a legacy means that what we have done and how we have lived will impact people's lives beyond our time on this earth. Drawing from all of the seven disciplines, leaving a legacy is a result of practicing encouragement and how it impacts one’s future. It’s leaving a legacy of presence that allows your encouragement to penetrate generations.
WHAT IS the edge?
-
Own your worth. Honor theirs.
Encouragers believe they are valuable, loved, and made for significance. But they also understand that their worth does not make them more important than the person in front of them. True encouragement begins with humility: knowing you matter, while choosing to see and honor the worth of others. -
Find the good. Name the good.
Encouragement becomes powerful when it becomes specific. Encouragers do more than offer general praise. They name what is good, courageous, beautiful, and meaningful in another person. They celebrate others with detail, sincerity, and joy. -
Choose gratitude in every circumstance.
Encouragers practice gratitude in both the good and the ridiculously tough circumstances. Thankfulness does not mean pretending everything is easy. It means choosing to see meaning, growth, and goodness even in the moments that stretch us.(Don’t just be thankful for turkey, be thankful for all of the turkeys in your life) -
Show up fully. Leave people stronger.
The greatest way to encourage is not only to do something for someone, but to be fully present with them. Encouragers are not merely human doers. They are human beings who show up with love, attention, humility, and faithfulness.

“This book may not make you “happy” in the world’s sense of happiness. But I believe it can lead you toward the kind of joy that only comes from living the truth of the Gospel. The real truth. The truth that sets us free, even when it is hard.”
